Lee Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, revealed the Pantone 2023 home and interiors color forecast with an eye on how color is connecting with consumers in a far more personal way as people emerge from a profoundly personal two years of altered reality.
Eiseman, in a keynote of day three of The Inspired Home Show, shared insights on Pantone’s Color of the Year — Very Peri — as she outlined seven lifestyle-tinged Pantone color palettes for 2023. Many of the Pantone 2023 home color themes prescribe contrasting hues that can be brought together for more personally expressive tones reflecting evolving consumer tastes, lifestyles and values, Eiseman noted.
On Very Peri, Eiseman said Pantone created an entirely new periwinkle blue-based color formula to symbolize the new post-pandemic reality.
“Very Peri looks forward to a new future,” Eiseman said, noting the versatile color blends the constant comfort of blue with the vitality of red undertones.
Eiseman outlined the new Pantone home color palettes for 2023.
Tropic Refresh: Evoking a place to escape and recharge with a balance of warmth and coolness, this palette, Eiseman said, showcases undertones of sea, sand and sky, including monochromatic ‘Ombre” blends.
Epic Tales: Inspired by the mythic past that has inspired popular fantasy and science-fiction films and TV series, Eiseman said, “medieval meets modern” in rich tones mixed with deepened metallics.
Honesty: Suggesting what Eiseman described as organic, unadulterated tones evocative of health and a responsibility to natural resources, neutrals are accented with nourishing yellow/green and blue/green.
Earthbound: The colors in the eclectic palette combine to elevate a sense of texture and feel, with earth tones blending with the metallics.
Unexpected Reality: This palette, Eiseman said, joyfully blends softer tones unexpectedly and satisfyingly with vibrant bright colors.
Artisanal Invention: Rustic and sleek colors harmonize in an eclectic theme that “Makes new of old,” Eiseman said.
Intoxicants: This palette, Eiseman said, is all about profuse, lively punctuations of vivid color.
