Although it may not be well known yet in the United States, Kuhn Rikon is getting out in front of the soft cooking curve with the Hotpan.
Soft cooking is a gentle process that uses liquid to preserve more of the food’s valuable nutrients, Kuhn Rikon noted. With the stainless steel pot, home chefs can steam, sear or saute the proteins, veggies or starches they want to prepare, then transfer the pot to the insulated bowl and allow it to continue cooking there. Soft cooking allows a meal to finish cooking on its own in the bowl, where food will stay warm for up to two hours. Not only does soft cooking provide flavorful meals, but it also can use up to 60% less energy in the cooking process than traditional pots, said the company.
The Hotpan is making its debut at The Inspired Home Show 2024. It’s available in an array of colors, including red, gray and sand. It launches in a variety of sizes, including 1 liter, 2 liter, 3 liter and 5 liter, to suit solo cooking or creating family-sized meals. Made in Switzerland.
The suggested retail price is $231 for the 1 liter, ranging up to $319 for the 5 liter.
