Retailers from Uruguay, Colombia, Norway, the United States and Argentina were named 2023 Global Innovation Award (gia) honorees at the gia gala Saturday night.
Global gia honorees are:
- La Iberica, Uruguay
- Ambiente Living, Colombia
- Illums Bolighus, Norway
- A. Dodson’s, USA
- Tiendas Landmark, Argentina
The global gia honorees were selected by a jury of designers and media from the 27 national winners honored during the gala at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago.
The gia Martin M. Pegler Award for visual merchandising excellence went to Argentina’s Tiendas Landmark. Norway’s Illums Bolighus took the top Digital Commerce prize.
The competition is structured on a two-tier level, national and global, evaluating retailers within the following categories:
- Overall mission statement, vision and strategy
- Store design and layout
- Visual merchandising, displays and window displays
- Marketing, advertising and promotions
- Customer service and staff training
- Innovation
Co-sponsoring the country-specific gia award programs with IHA are housewares trade publications worldwide, which sponsor national gia programs in their respective countries. This year, 27 national gia winners from 26 countries were selected by the co-sponsoring trade publications with targeted distribution in over 50 countries on five continents. All winners were automatically entered in the global competition for The Inspired Home Show in Chicago.
The national winners are featured during The Inspired Home Show with banners and a special display in the Grand Concourse Walkway at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
The gia program was created by IHA and The Inspired Home Show to foster innovation and excellence in home and housewares retailing throughout the world. Since the launch of gia in 2000, there have been more than 500 gia retail award winners, from over 50 countries on six continents.
