Shein, an e-tailer focused on younger consumers, surveyed their customers in the United States and determined that they’re not done holiday shopping.
In addition, the survey found that rising costs haven’t tempered holiday spending for Shein’s Gen Z customers, as 49% plan to spend the same on holiday gifts this year compared to last, and roughly 1 in 5 plan to spend more.
Other findings include:
- Gen Z holiday shopping starts early and ends late with 67% of survey respondents saying they started holiday shopping by early November yet while 31% said they would finish their holiday shopping in the last few days of December.
- Circularity is priority as 42% of respondents said they intend to donate at least some possessions to charity this season and 30% said they plan to participate in buying/selling items on a resale platform.
- Respondents are conscious of rising prices during a season of inflation with 52% saying they plan to purchase whatever is on sale this season.
- About half of respondents said they get the most inspiration for their holiday gifts from social media while 26% get inspiration from friends and peers, and 18% from retailers themselves.
