Time’s 2024 America’s Best Midsize Companies ranks Williams-Sonoma as the top retailer.
Williams-Sonoma ranked 17th overall among 500 companies ranked and atop the report’s Retail, Wholesale & Consumer Goods grouping. Other retailers from that group among the overall rankings included Bath & Body Works, ranked 20th overall; Foot Locker, 25th; Petco, 192nd; Carter’s, 209th; The Container Store, 269th; Harbor Freight, 276th, Five Below, 301st; Academy Sports + Outdoor, 350th; and Ace Hardware, 379th.
Retailers appearing on the list in other categories are eBay, number 10 overall and included in the Technology, Media & Services category; Burlington Stores, 38th; and Dillard’s, 367th, included in Apparel, Footwear & Sporting Goods.
As for housewares producers, Newell Brands made the overall list at number 456.
The top five companies overall were Workday, Service Now, Ally Financial, Ralph Lauren and Airbnb.
To compile the report, Time worked with market researcher Statista to review United States-based companies that generated revenue between $100 million and $10 billion during the most recent full year reported, scoring them on positive revenue growth, employee satisfaction and sustainability transparency.

In another William-Sonoma news, the company added Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive Global, a behavior change technology company, and the founder of The Huffington Post to its board of directors.
