Almost two years after news about it emerged, Wayfair has announced that the company will open its first namesake bricks and mortar store on May 23.
The store will weigh in at 150,000 square feet and provide shoppers with a better sense of what the retailer has available on its e-commerce website. As such, it will introduce consumers who might not have shopped Wayfair online an introduction to the operation. The assortment will include furniture, home decor, housewares and home improvement products across a range of styles and price points, Wayfair noted. What the company has dubbed a Dream Center will feature mattresses while a Market Square element will stock home textiles and a Design Center will provide shoppers with expert advice. The store also will offer an onsite restaurant, The Porch.
The store will operate in Wilmette, IL, a northern suburb of Chicago. A grand opening event on May 23 will include exclusive deals and family-friendly activities through the following weekend, Wayfair maintained.
