Wayfair, HomeGoods and Big Lots had the highest market shares among pure-play specialty home product retailers for the fourth quarter of 2024, according to market researcher YipitData.
HomeGoods had the highest gain in the market share in a study from YipitData, at 1.9 points versus the year-before fourth quarter. Restoration Hardware had the largest drop, at 0.8 points. Homesense, sister retailer to TJX’s HomeGoods, had the highest growth by gross market value at 19% year over year.
In the top three, Wayfair market share gained 0.6 points to 15.2%. HomeGoods, with its 1.9 point gain, reached a 14.5% market share. Big Lots slipped 0.8 points for an 8.3% market share.
In the 2023 fourth versus the period a year earlier, the results for the specialty retailers rounding out the top 10 were:
- Ikea at 7.8%, down 0.2 points.
- Pottery Barn, 5.6% flat.
- Ashley Furniture, 4.9%, down 0.3 points.
- La-Z-Boy, 4.1%, down 0.7 points.
- Crate & Barrel, 3.6%, down 0.4 points.
- Williams Sonoma, 3.5%, up 0.6%.
- Restoration Hardware, 3.4%, down 0.8%.
Others gaining share, according to YipIt, included At Home, up 0.1 point to 2.9%, Bed Bath & Beyond, up 0.1 point to 2.3%, Pottery Barn Kids & Teen, up 0.1 point to 1.9% and Homesense, up 0.2 points to 0.8%.
