In its launch of Decorify, Wayfair is giving consumers an AI-enhanced means to virtually remodel their home spaces before purchasing the real-world products needed to do so.
In this pilot application, as Wayfair termed it, Decorify uses a generative AI model that creates photorealistic and shoppable images that allow consumers to view their domestic spaces in new styles. They just have to upload a picture of a space they want to reconsider.
With a photo uploaded, consumers can prompt the system to reimagine the image, which Decorify loads with furniture and decor in selected styles, the company noted. Consumers can pick from a range of popular styles including Bohemian, mid-century modern and industrial, and Decorify presents images of the space redesigned in the requested look. Each image includes a slider that consumers can manipulate to view back and forth between the original and updated images to make comparisons. They can browse their chosen room designs and click on products in the image, which then pop up below for selection and purchase.

Consumers using Decorify can upload unlimited photos and delete them at any time using a mobile or desktop browser.
Decorify is a product of Wayfair Next, the company’s research and development lab. It already is up and running at wayfairnext.com/decorify.
