Walmart has opened a new, next-generation 1.5 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Greencastle, PA, as it continues applying technology to logistics.
The facility will help expand consumer access to Walmart’s next- and two-day shipping, the company stated. As part of Walmart’s fulfillment network, next-generation centers will enable the retailer to reach 95% of the U.S. population with its speediest delivery. Walmart Fulfillment Services, the company’s third-party distribution business, will also use the facility to deliver on marketplace orders.
Walmart recently announced that it would open a fifth next-generation fulfillment center in 2026.
“Walmart is paving the way for good jobs and great careers in the south-central Pennsylvania region with the Greencastle fulfillment center,” said Karisa Sprague, senior vice president of fulfillment network operations for Walmart U.S. “These tech-powered jobs will drive the future of Walmart’s continued promise of speedy shipping and delivery for customers on the east coast. Our next-generation fulfillment centers are the perfect example of how we are a people-led, tech-powered retailer.”
