In a memo the company passed on to HomePage News, Walmart revealed it appointed Latriece Watkins to chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S.
In her latest prior position as executive vice president, consumables for Walmart U.S., Watkins led her team to accelerate top-line sales through supplier partnerships, increased innovation and improved customer experiences, the memo stated. She joined Walmart 24 years ago as an intern in the company’s real estate division while pursuing her law degree at the University of Arkansas. Watkins held roles across Walmart U.S. and Sam’s Club, the company noted.
Watkins also led important strategic initiatives at Walmart, including with the company’s Shared Value Network team, focused on leveraging company strengths and expertise to increase racial equity within the criminal justice system.
Watkins replaces Charles Redfield, who stepped down from the chief merchant’s spot in April.
