Walmart has launched Wally, a new application of generative AI, to speed up and simplify merchant analysis and strategy development.
Walmart designed Wally to be intuitive, requiring no technical training. Merchants simply ask questions and receive actionable insights in seconds rather than having to spend hours, days or weeks on a specific project point. In addition, Wally removes the friction of manual reporting, so merchants can focus on what they do best, Walmart asserted, delivering the right products to customers at the right time and with greater efficiency.
The company constructed and trained Wally to understand the intricacies of its proprietary data, so the AI assistant can handle and process large volumes of product information efficiently through advanced algorithms and a robust computational infrastructure, Walmart noted.
Merchants’ response to Wally has been overwhelmingly positive, the company declared. Walmart plans to continuously improve the tool guided by the feedback and the needs of Walmart merchants so that, in time, it can act autonomously on the merchant’s behalf within configurable guardrails, executing tactical actions necessary to bring their strategies to life.
