Shoppers often find a product on social media they want, but they discover that the price is beyond their budgets or can’t find shoppable links or product details. In such cases, the inability to purchase products can be a shopper disappointment but one that Walmart wants to remedy with TrendGetter.
In a recent blog post, Casey Schlaybaugh, vp of brand strategy and marketing at Walmart, debuted TrendGetter, which uses image recognition technology to make products and deals easier to find.
The company launched TrendGetter in time for the holiday season so customers could find items they might not otherwise be able to get, at least not without great effort, and at Walmart prices, Schlaybaugh noted.
To track down a product, shoppers can visit TrendGetter.com, take a picture of any item they might want or upload an image from a device. TrendGetter then finds similar items at Walmart.com. At that point, shoppers can add the product to their Walmart.com cart and purchase when ready, which makes TrendGetter another point of technology-enabled convenience the company has recently rolled out.
