Walmart lined up initiatives for participants at its Let’s Grow! 2024 Walmart Marketplace Seller Summit covering category expansion, multichannel fulfillment and new features that simplify selling across markets, as well as new efforts in beauty and recommerce.
Walmart Marketplace is introducing Resold at Walmart as the company’s first digital destination for cross-category and cross-condition pre-owned items from performance-managed sellers, the company announced during the summit. With five million items from more than 1,700 sellers, the integrated assortment lets customers shop a growing selection of goods at the value they expect from Walmart, the company stated. By extending product lives, Resold at Walmart aligns with the company’s commitment to make the more sustainable choice an everyday choice and builds on the recommerce success of Walmart Restored, a collection of refurbished products centered on electronics and small appliances.
The company also is expanding its Premium Beauty operation to marketplace with an online presentation that offers more than 20 new brands, such as COSRX, T3 and Beachwaver in skin care, hair care and hair tools. Backed by custom storefronts and editorial content, Premium Beauty at Walmart establishes an elevated, seamless brand experience, the company asserted.
Walmart is enhancing its marketplace connection with collectors, bringing customers new ways to secure sought-after collectibles and connecting sellers to the rapidly growing enthusiast community. In the Collector shop, sellers can now preorder to build customer anticipation for drops, including releases exclusive to Walmart. The company is also adding pre-owned condition standards for collectibles under Resold at Walmart. Eligible sellers can take advantage of 0% commission fees for collectibles through October 31, Walmart maintained, including action figures, dolls, trading cards, sports memorabilia, comic books, records and musical instruments.
Earlier this year, Walmart reported that it connected Marketplace tire sellers with its Auto Care Centers at 2,300 Walmart Supercenters and previewed Walmart LocalFinds to further bridge the gap between online and offline shopping with direct pickup and delivery from sellers’ physical stores.
In addition, Walmart is enabling solutions and perks for sellers to support their holiday readiness. Last year, Walmart Marketplace achieved its two biggest sales days ever during the holiday selling season as millions of customers shopped at Walmart.com, according to the company. The efforts include an updated Global Seller Center and app that provides seamless onboarding for eligible sellers in any market so they can cross borders and go global by selling in the U.S., Mexico, Chile and Canada. To help sellers scale their holiday businesses, Walmart Marketplace Capital will now offer qualified sellers access to cash advances up to $5 million. Walmart is also rolling out a new Deals Dashboard that makes it easy for sellers to enroll items in its popular promotional events.
“Sellers are looking for a smart path for growth,” said Manish Joneja, senior vice president, Walmart Marketplace and Walmart Fulfillment Services. “We’re bringing all the pieces together to be much more than a marketplace and investing in new ways for sellers to serve customers as we grow together.”
