Walmart Aims for Early Holiday Shoppers with October 8-13 Deals Event

The Walmart Holiday Deals event runs October 8-13 with bargains on gifts and early access for the company loyalty program members.

Walmart reported almost 50% of consumers had begun their holiday shopping by August and September. As seasonal shopping rolls along, Walmart Holiday Deals  will offer deep savings across home, electronics, apparel and toys among other product categories from both its own and Walmart Marketplace assortments, the company maintained.

On October 8 at 12 a.m. eastern time on the company’s website and app, Walmart+ loyalty program members get exclusive early access to top deals 12 hours earlier than the general public. All customers can shop the Walmart Holiday Deals event starting October 8 at 12 p.m. eastern time online and on the app, with stores chiming in on October 9.

Walmart previewed several holiday deals on home products:

  • The Bissell Little Green Pro Portable Carpet Cleaner for $109, was $153
  • Better Homes Gardens 14-ounce Farm Apple Pumpkin Scented Wooden Wick Jar Candle for $5, was $10.87
  • Frigidaire 7.5-cubic-foot refrigerator, Platinum Series, standard door style, stainless look for $198, was $499
  • Dr. J Professional HEPA Air Purifier for $69.99, was $179.99
  • GTracing Gaming Chair Office Chair,  PU leather with footrest and adjustable headrest for adults and kids, black for $99.99, was $249.99 
  • Swisstech 24-inch Excursion Travel Duffel, blue/gray, polyester for $5, was $34.56 

The company plans additional bargains including home and apparel deals under $5, such as discounts on vacuums, small appliances and décor from such brands as  Ninja, Beautiful by Drew Barrymore and Better Homes & Gardens.

“We know many of our customers are beginning to prepare for their holiday celebrations early, and we’ve adapted our approach to best meet their needs,” said Latriece Watkins, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S. “We’ve worked hard to lower prices across our most exciting assortment ever, and we’re thrilled to give customers more of what they want this holiday, more time to prepare and more opportunities to save all season long.”

Walmart will launch a major pre-holiday sales event October 8, looking to capitalize on what it said are changing seasonal shopping patterns.
