Over the next five years, Von Maur Department Store will invest more than $100 million in an extensive, multi-phased renovation of its brick-and-mortar locations.
Renovations have begun at stores in Wichita, KS, Fort Wayne, IN, Omaha, NE, Livonia, MI, Louisville, KY, Overland Park, KS, and Forsyth, IL. As part of its approach to store design, the company has traditionally provided customer amenities and accommodations, including signature wide aisles, soft seating arrangements, and open floor plans, Von Maur noted. It will refurbish stores, employing white and cream tones mixed with warm woods and modern lighting. The updated look will place greater focus on merchandise to make shopping stores more appealing, Von Maur maintained.
The company operates 37 stores in 15 states – mostly in the Midwest and South, with the exception being a single location in western New York – along with a 120,000-square-foot e-commerce facility that drives its vonmaur.com business. Von Maur has been readying new locations scheduled to be in Pittsburgh this fall Fall and in Fargo, N.D., during spring 2025.
“As Von Maur has grown, new stores have evolved to reflect the trends present in residential design. It is important that we reinvest in our existing locations and bring those same updates to the customers that have been the bedrock of our success,” said Jim von Maur, the company’s president, in announcing the renovation plan.
