Target Corp. has struck a deal with Shopify to access a selection of its popular merchants and their products on the retailer’s third-party, curated digital marketplace.
The new partnership will expand the Target Plus marketplace by providing a select assortment of new and on-trend products and brands. Target noted it would give consumers on its website more quality options to explore at affordable prices.
Target added it plans to bring select Shopify merchant products into its physical stores, which would make it the first mass merchant to do so.
Shopify merchants based in the United States can apply to sell online on Target Plus through Marketplace Connect, an app that enables merchants to readily sell and manage orders on leading marketplaces such as Target Plus.
Launched in 2019, Target Plus has helped consumers discover a curated assortment of new products via the marketplace platform, and Target continues to expand its online assortment by adding trending, premium, direct-to-consumer and national brands, the company maintained. Today, the Target Plus marketplace features more than two million products across a wide range of categories from more than 1,200 suppliers chosen by an in-house team focused on growing the retailer’s available assortment.
By purchasing Target Plus brands on the company’s website, shoppers can enjoy Target perks, such as 5% off for customers using the Target Circle Card, free shipping with orders over $35 and free returns.
“Target Plus invites consumers to explore a curated collection of products from vendors we trust, so they can shop our assortment with confidence,” said Cara Sylvester, Target executive vice president and chief guest experience officer. “Our partnership with Shopify extends the breadth of thoughtfully designed and affordable items available to discover and enjoy as part of Target’s distinctive mix of brands shoppers love.”
