In line with the company’s long-term diversification strategy, Tanger Outlets, which runs upscale, open-air shopping centers, continues to expand on the retail categories it hosts by enhancing the selection of home product banners offered at its operations in the United States and Canada.
The Tanger centers in San Marcos, TX, and Riverhead, NY, are leading examples of the execution of its strategy, the company maintained, having both become home goods destinations of choice in their respective communities. Home furnishings retailers now occupy more than 200,000 square feet of the gross leasable area at the two centers, following deals earlier this year that covered new outlet locations for RH, Design Within Reach and Casper at the centers.
During a time when off-price stores have become more important to the strategies of several different retailers, a Williams-Sonoma’s West Elm Outlet now is part of Tanger’s Riverhead and San Marcos centers as well as one in Lancaster, PA. Pottery Barn Outlet is available at the Lancaster and Riverhead centers.
Other banners represented at Tanger outlet centers include Crate & Barrel Outlet, Le Creuset, Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams Furniture Outlet, Purple Mattress, Serena & Lily, Williams Sonoma Outlet, and Zwilling J.A. Henckels.
“Broadening our retailer mix is a crucial part of our commitment to elevating the shopping experience for our guests and strengthening our value for retailers and consumers alike,” said Stephen Yalof, Tanger president and CEO, in announcing the home initiative. “Expanding our partnerships with retailers in the home category provides a more diverse selection of premium retailers for our existing shoppers. Importantly, we believe it can also help us attract an even wider audience to our centers and deliver increased traffic and retailer sales.”
