Sur La Table will accept Bed Bath & Beyond coupons at its stores through May 31 as home goods retailers look for ways to win over the liquidating operator’s customers.
Consumers can use their blue valid coupon to enjoy 20% off a single item across a range of cookware, bakeware, kitchen electrics, tools and gadgets, cutlery, tabletop items and other household goods, Sur La Table announced. They can only redeem the coupons in-store at Sur La Table locations, the company noted, ensuring that consumers less familiar with the banner will experience the retailer’s store proposition.
Although many retailers expect to win sales from former Bed Bath & Beyond customers based on familiarity, convenience and low-price reputation, Sur La Table wants consumers to encounter its customer service elements, as well. Giving existing customers a quick price break is a chance to reinforce their relationship with Sur La Table stores, according the retailer.
“At Sur La Table, our goal has always been to create happiness through cooking and sharing food,” says Jordan Voloshin, CEO of Sur La Table. “We welcome all customers in our stores where they will find cooking and entertaining essentials, from the best brands, available at the best price. Our in-store brand specialists are product experts to help you shop, and our resident chefs lead our in-store cooking classes and can answer all your culinary questions. Once we heard of the recent retailer closures, we decided to offer our new and existing customers a small token of our appreciation by providing them the opportunity to purchase a product at our stores at a great value by using coupons they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to use.”
Sur La Table has good reason to make a play for former Bed Bath & Beyond customers. When surveyed by market research Numerator and asked where they would shop for home goods after Bed Bath & Beyond closes for good, 68% of survey respondents said Amazon, followed by Target, at 58%, Walmart, at 48%, Home Goods, at 34%, At Home, at 12%, Macy’s, at 10%, Wayfair, at 5%, Crate & Barrel, at 3%, Williams Sonoma, at 3%, Overstock, at 2%, and Nordstrom, at 2%.
