The new, suburban version of the Amazon Go store format has opened in Mill Creek, WA, offering an expanded selection of grab-and-go food and beverage items versus the urban manifestation of the concept, as well as retail technology that allows shoppers to skip the cashier.
Amazon Go is, in effect, a convenience store format that offers a broader range of beer and wine, and everyday essentials in Mill Creek. It also features a new Made-to-Order kitchen, with some 30 freshly prepared breakfast and lunch items for customers to choose from or customize, as well as a selection of new specialty beverages including Starbucks freshly brewed coffee and espresso, and on-tap beverages including RISE Nitro cold brew coffee, Health-Ade kombuchas, and ICEE Slushies.
The Mill Creek store offers Packageless Returns and two Standard Level 2 Volta electric vehicle charging stations that are free for customer use, Amazon pointed out.
Beyond Mill Creek, Amazon has offered a Just Walk Out store at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, which becomes the first Major League Baseball stadium to open a store equipped with the technology. The store also uses Amazon One tech, which allows consumers to shop using just palm print identification. The UBS Arena, home of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders, has just opened two food and beverage stores equipped with Just Walk Out technology.
Prior to the Mill Creek opening, 20 Amazon Go stores operated across the United States, according to the company.
