Sam’s Club plans to open two new distribution centers in early 2024, one each outside St. Louis and Minneapolis.
The Walmart warehouse club division announced that the distribution centers are part of a multi-year growth plan to transform the supply chain at Sam’s Club and evolve network and end-to-end capabilities. The new distribution centers will provide Sam’s Club members a better shopping experience with noticeable increases in product availability and speed to customers both in club and online, according to Sam’s Club.
The 370,000 square-foot St. Louis-area club, located in Edwardsville, IL, will open in January 2024. It will serve store and online operations as a distribution center and fulfillment center, the company noted.
The 365,000-square-foot Shakopee, MN, facility will serve as a multi-purpose distribution center and will open in March 2024.
“We’re excited to extend our supply chain network and capabilities for our clubs and members in the region,” said Joseph Godsey, Sam’s senior vice president of supply chain. “We’re designing our supply chain network to strengthen our omnichannel experience and increase efficiencies and delivery speed to wherever our members decide to shop with us and receive their products.”
In addition, Sam’s Club recently shared plans to open a new distribution center in Oklahoma City, OK, and a new fulfillment center in Lithia Springs, GA, the company reported.
