This summer has brought a wave of retail leadership moves, including at Pier1.com operator Omni Retail Enterprises and Walgreens Boots Alliance, which is reconfiguring the company around store operations after narrowing its healthcare focus. ODP Corp., Target, CVS Health and Dollar General also brought on more help.
After naming Sharon Leite CEO in June, Omni has named Nancie Samet (pictured above) chief merchandising officer, leading the portfolio’s brand management, global sourcing, strategic marketing, and channel selling strategy. Omni, which operates online banners including Pier1.com, and also owns the intellectual property rights to others including SteinMart, Linens-N-Thing and Modell’s Sporting Goods, hired Samet based on experience in senior management positions mostly at Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue, Omni noted.
Walgreens Boots has named Tracey Koller, senior vice president and chief merchandising officer, and Sharmila Sudhakar, group vice president and head of the company’s digital commerce, the company reported. Koller, who had been chief merchandising officer at Party City, will supervise merchandising strategy across all categories and the deployment of merchandising plans and programs, including those covering product mix, supplier relationships and merchandising operations. Sudhakar, who was Tailored Brands vice president and general manager of the North American e-commerce business for The Men’s Wearhouse and Moores, will take charge of driving Walgreens’ digitally initiated revenue growth across businesses, including retail products, pharmacy, photo services and health services as well as strengthening digital engagement through omnichannel solutions.
