Publix Super Markets has continued its geographic expansion, the company has announced, signing a lease for the company’s first store in Kentucky.
The upcoming Louisville store planned as a 55,702-square-foot supermarket adjacent to a Publix Liquors location will operate at the northwest corner of Terra Crossing Blvd. and Old Henry Road in Jefferson County. The company pointed out that it is looking forward to growing within Kentucky and the Louisville area.
Publix has yet to determine an opening date, it noted, which determination will depend on several factors, including permitting and completion of the store’s construction, but the company anticipates the debut to occurring during the 2023 fourth quarter.
Publix, already the largest employee-owned company in the United States with more than 225,000 associates, operates 1,281 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
In announcing the Kentucky plans, Publix CEO Todd Jones said, “Being company owners, Publix associates are committed to providing the highest level of service and quality products to exceed our customers’ expectations. Moving into Kentucky is a natural progression for our company, and we are excited to serve and be a part of this vibrant community.”
