Market researcher Numerator has pegged Amazon as the Black Friday Weekend sales leader.
In its report on the shopping period, Numerator stated:
- Amazon captured 17.7% of dollars spent, which was a jump from its average 10.1% share in the latest 52 weeks ending 11/24/2022.
- The top retailers following Amazon sales for Black Friday Weekend 2022 were Walmart at 14%, Costco, at 3.8%, Kroger, at 3.7%, and Target, at 3.4%.
- Dollar General gained significant share, at 2.3%, versus its latest 52-week average, at 1.5%, driven by lower-income households.
- Best Buy also gained share, at 2% versus its latest 52-week average, at 1.2%, driven by Gen Z and Hispanic households.
- Low-income households favored Walmart, 19.1% share, Amazon, 13.3% share, and Dollar General, 4.1% share for their Black Friday Weekend shopping.
- Amazon and Costco captured the highest Black Friday Weekend share of Asian households, at 21.4% and 14.3%, respectively.
- Amazon Inspire is what the company describes as an in-app shopping experience that gives customers a new way to discover ideas, explore products and seamlessly shop from content created by other customers, influencers and brands they love.
- Inspire is rolling out to select customers in the United States and will become available to all U.S. customers in the coming months.
