The Neiman Marcus Group has announced strategic changes to its operating model, including executive moves and as much as a 5% workforce reduction, designed to accelerate the company’s pursuit of its strategic goal to “Revolutionize Luxury Experiences.”
A new leadership team structure places additional group-level responsibilities for strategic capabilities on each of NMG’s brand presidents. The realignment ensures fast decision-making with a relentless focus on the customer experience, NMG asserted.
Darcy Penick, president of Bergdorf Goodman, will assume group-level leadership of the NMG product and technology organization. Penick brings leadership experience gained throughout her career in digital-led customer strategy as well as a proven history of execution excellence that she can bring to bear leading group-level product and technology teams, according to NMG.
Ryan Ross, president of Neiman Marcus, will head up customer insight operations for the group. Ross has experience including previous leadership roles focused on integrated channel strategies and customer migration, the company indicated.
“Bergdorf Goodman is a key driver for the company’s growth through BG.com,” said Geoffroy van Raemdonck, NMG CEO. “Darcy’s strategic leadership of NMG’s product and technology roadmap will ensure the right suite of tools, platforms and resources are aligned to our most important investments in the customer experience and key capabilities across Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. “The Neiman Marcus brand continues to experience outsized growth of high-value customers, and Ryan’s leadership of these key capabilities will continue fueling deeper relationships with top customers. His role will accelerate customer-informed decisions across NMG.”
Bob Kupbens, chief product and technology officer, will transition out of the NMG organization after successfully building momentum across the product, technology and analytics organization, the company noted, enabling the transition of these core capabilities back into the business.
NMG will eliminate positions representing less than 5%, it maintained. At the same time, the company has identified open roles that best support its operating model going forward, which will be filled based on strategic business needs.
