Lifestyle retailer Miniso is preparing to open a new flagship store in New York City’s Times Square on May 19 as the international youth-oriented retailer continues opening stores in the United States.
The store is the second flagship-style Miniso location in New York City, the first being in Flushing, Queens. The Times Square store in Manhattan will offer almost 2,000 different products at affordable prices, according to the retailer.
The Times Square store showcases what Miniso reported is a simple and sleek look with nine dedicated zones, including licensed collections, blind-box collectibles, toys, plush toys, fragrances, accessories, makeup tools, snacks, gifts and stationery. The window design will feature characters from Sanrio, the parent company of Hello Kitty. Concept art included in the window design for the flagship store features Cinnamoroll, a chubby-cheek, long-eared puppy character from Sanrio.
Miniso will hold giveaways and raffle drawings on the day of the store’s grand opening, giving shoppers an opportunity to win vouchers, gifts and Sanrio products, the company noted.
In announcing the store opening, Jack Ye, Miniso founder and CEO, said, “The opening of the Times Square store is a crucial step towards our transformation and upgrade. Times Square is the ‘Crossroads of the World’ and a hub of business, entertainment and culture. By making a physical presence in one of the busiest pedestrian areas, Miniso appeals to New Yorkers and visitors from around the world; and responds to consumer demands for attractive, fun, useful and affordable products.”
