In keeping with its ongoing store expansion initiative, Meijer has announced opening dates for new supercenter operations in Michigan and Ohio, adding to its store count in what is the company’s 90th anniversary year.
Also, on May 14, Meijer will debut 159,000 square-foot supercenters in Alliance and North Canton, OH, increasing the company’s store count to 55 in the state. The operation will include the same product categories and services as available in the Hillsdale supercenter. The North Canton store will also offer a Meijer Express gas station, it, too, will open on April 18.
Meijer began as a Greenville, MI, store in 1934. The company opened its first Ohio location in 1981. Meijer operates more than 500 stores in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Kentucky, including about 240 supercenters as well as Express gas station/convenience stores, supermarkets, and neighborhood grocery markets.
