On February 1, through its social purpose platform Mission Every One, Macy’s will spotlight Black-owned brands, hosting online shopping events and launching initiatives in its ongoing commitment to empower and support diverse businesses.
As part of a commitment to fuel accelerated growth and profile of diverse-owned brands, Macy’s will highlight select Black-owned brands in-store and online via macys.com, in marketing and on its social platforms, including:
- Aminah: a luxury shoe brand known for a bold yet feminine design aesthetic
- Beauty Stat: patented premium-quality skincare with ingredients proven to be effective
- Buttah. by Dorion Renaud: a skincare line geared towards melanin-rich skin
- Harlem Candle Co.: a luxury home fragrance brand by Teri Johnson specializing in scented candles inspired by the Harlem Jazz Age and the community’s legendary residents
- Healthy Roots: a toy company by Yelitsa Jean-Charles that creates dolls that empower young girls
- Nude Barre: a bodywear collection created by Erin Carpenter to reclaim and revolutionize shapewear featuring 12 unique shades developed to close the representational gap
- OMA The Label: a jewelry line created by Neumi Anekhe to diversify fashion and beauty standards
- Soap Distillery by Danielle Martin: a unique sustainable line of cocktail-scented soaps, candles and bath and body products
- SPGBK: pronounced Spring Break, a vibrant and colorful watch brand by Kwame Molden designed to help customers express their authenticity
A Macy’s Live event co-hosted by Dorion Renaud, owner of Buttah Skin, will showcase an array of Black-owned products on February 14.
Macy’s established commitment to diverse-owned businesses includes those operated by Black, Latino/Hispanic, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Women and LGBTQ entrepreneurs. Black-owned businesses that can be found at Macy’s produce everything from accessories to watches and include a wide variety of products with further examples including the Boss 1-gallon drink bottle, the decorative Tal & Bert Green Calcite Geode Vessel and the 125 Collection Black Girl Magic Candle.
Internally, in February, Macy’s colleagues will have the opportunity to participate in an in-person learning event focused on leadership skills and colleague development, attend panel discussions on Macy’s initiatives including S.P.U.R. Pathways, a funding program to advance entrepreneurial growth, close wealth gaps and shatter systemic barriers faced by diverse-owned and underrepresented businesses, partake in volunteer mentoring opportunities with Figure Skating in Harlem and join a discussion with JOY Collective on Black Beauty and The Crown Act.
