To celebrate National Pride Month, Macy’s and Qurate have introduced comprehensive initiatives to honor the LGBTQ community.
Macy’s stores and macys.com will offer an assortment of Pride-inspired merchandise within dedicated Pride + Joy shops and displays throughout the store. Rainbow patterns and bold colors will mix with exclusive and curated merchandise across the home, apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty and tech categories. Macy’s premier brands including Adidas, Armani Exchange, Art & Eden, Betsey Johnson, Calvin Klein, COACH, DKNY Sport, Epic Threads, Guess, ID Ideology, Levi’s, Marmot Mountain, Martha Stewart, MICHAEL Michael Kors, Nautica, Polo Ralph Lauren and Sun + Stone will feature unique items in celebration of Pride.
As part of a commitment to amplify inclusive and diverse brands, Macy’s will highlight up-and-coming LGBTQ-owned products to customers, the company stated. Reality TV star Reza Farahan will be co-host on a Macy’s Live shopping episode at 4 p.m. eastern time on June 16 featuring his unisex luxury hair care collection Be Obsessed by Reza.
“Fostering an inclusive culture and an environment that inspires, reflects and provides equitable access for every one of us are foundational in driving our mission of building a brighter future for our colleagues, customers and communities,” said Shawn Outler, Macy’s chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, in announcing the initiative. “Through our social purpose platform, Mission Every One, we are more committed than ever to making meaningful change to positively impact the lives of the LGBTQ community. This includes our efforts to empower the LGBTQ community to be their authentic selves all year long and especially during Pride Month.”
Qurate Retail Group will offer 2022 Pride Month collections on QVC, HSN and Zulily featuring products from LGBTQ+-owned brands and allies. In June, consumers can shop a range of LGBTQ+ owned and founded businesses that operate in categories such as home décor, culinary, jewelry, accessories, beauty and apparel, among others.
In addition, the company plans to emphasize LGBTQ+-owned brands and entrepreneurs through Qurate Retail Group’s Small Business Spotlight program and present dedicated Pride Month programming across QVC and HSN platforms, including multiple on-air segments and original livestream content throughout the month. Qurate also will make a $100,000 donation to The Trevor Project in support of their mission to end LGBTQ youth suicide.
“At Qurate Retail Group, we are guided by our principles, centered on respect, fairness and belonging,” said Virginia Nguyen, vp, chief diversity officer at Qurate. “We strive to cultivate a safe, inclusive, welcoming environment, where team members can bring their authentic selves to the workplace and feel seen, heard and celebrated. We take a 365-day-a-year approach to inclusion and continuously seek opportunities to learn more, listen more and do more. We are proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community.”
