Kroger Bringing Ocado Driven Delivery to South Florida

Posted In: Retail Articles

After stepping away from a deal that had it working conventional supermarket operations in the Sunshine State, the Kroger Co. is now hiring more than 200 associates as it prepares to bring Kroger Delivery to the South Florida market this summer, providing fresh food and the convenient service to area residents, the company announced.

The move into South Florida continues the company’s initiative to serve Florida via the automated distribution centers that operate using technology developed with partner Ocado and delivery that gets a boost from AI routing. Kroger plans a similar entrance into the northeastern United States, where it lacks presence. In the meantime, the company continues to open automated distribution centers and boost delivery in existing markets.

The company recently launched delivery operations in three other Florida markets, rolling out in the greater Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville areas. Customers can conveniently shop online and choose from thousands of fresh food options and household essentials, Kroger maintained, which are then delivered to their homes in refrigerated vans.

The company stated that it plans to hire talented individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences to serve a state with a vastly varied population.

“We are thrilled about the opportunity to provide fresh food and convenient services to customers throughout South Florida,” said Andrea Colby, Kroger E-commerce corporate affairs and communications manager, in announcing the delivery expansion. “The service combines the efficiency of technology with the experience of our associates to deliver fresh, affordable groceries directly to customers’ homes.”
