As part of its marketplace operation, Klarna has announced it is adding new features to the company’s artificial intelligence-enabled virtual shopping assistant powered by OpenAI.
The AI assistant now provides a chat-based shopping experience, helping shoppers quickly find the right goods at the right price, the company stated. The AI assistant provides personalized product recommendations and advice as well as category and brand comparisons. It also gives shoppers access to customer reviews, Klarna noted.
More specifically, Klarna maintained the AI assistant now provides:
- Search for specific products or brands and key product insights within a single chat interface.
- Product recommendation based on shopper preferences, enhancing the relevance of responses.
- Comparison of products or different product categories so consumers can be more confident they’re making the right purchase choices.
- Question-based research and produce product recommendations using product specifications and reviews.
- Price check capability on products across thousands of merchants and stock, delivery and cashback info.
The new features support the Klarna goal of becoming a leading financial needs provider, via its convenient-to-access buy now pay later and related purchase support, as well as a pioneer in comparison shopping capabilities, the fintech indicated.
“For decades, the tech industry assumed that the online shopping experience was tied up by a small number of massive tech players, which led to under-investment,” said David Fock, Klarna chief product and design officer.
