Kitchen Switchen has launched as a recommerce digital store designed to build into a community that the founders vow will become the Poshmark of cooking- and cuisine-related products.
On the platform, interested consumers can buy, sell and connect over kitchenware. It also serves as a forum where passion for cooking meets sustainability in an inclusive space for everyone from budding home chefs to seasoned culinary artists, the company stated. Members can share recipes, cookbooks, meal plans and even homemaking classes, establishing Kitchen Switchen as an interactive space for culinary exploration as well as a recommerce market, the company noted.
Kitchen Switchen is the brainchild of Brittney and Emma Valentine and their mom, Amy Powers, who share a love for cooking, entertaining and all things kitchen, the company noted. They bought the trademark of a favorite local but no-longer-operating Phoenix kitchen store, Powers told HomePage News. The founders took a new approach, however, developing Kitchen Switchen to inaugurate a culinary community. Whether it’s pre-owned classics from brands such as Le Creuset or brand-new essentials from top names, the marketplace is a destination for consumers who want a different way to shop kitchenware while extending the life of products and contributing to sustainability, the company maintained.
Each year, consumers discard millions of pots, pans and other cooking products, Kitchen Switchen states. By promoting the resale of gently used kitchenware, the company is encouraging the use of recycled and non-toxic materials, reducing waste but also helping to reshape consumer habits and promoting sustainability as a key ingredient in every kitchen. In addition, the company is working with retailers and brands to offer overruns, returns and other such goods to Kitchen Switchen visitors, Powers said.
Kitchen Switchen also incorporates a blog offering everything from recipes to tips on how to succeed as a reseller as well as a Kitchen Kids section catering to families by providing items like back-to-school lunch boxes and storage containers, along with resources to get kids excited about learning in the kitchen. Plans call for Kitchen Switchen to launch an online “pharmacy” featuring medicinal herbs, household cleaners and nutraceuticals, further expanding the assortment provided to promote a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.
“At Kitchen Switchen, we’re on a mission to bring a new level of consciousness to the way people buy and sell kitchenware,” said Brittney Valentine in announcing the site launch. “We’re committed to sustainability, promoting healthy lifestyles and building a community that values the planet and personal well-being, one pot and pan at a time.”
