After time away because of the COVID-19 pandemic, JCPenney has reopened its new corporate offices at the Campus at Legacy West in Plano, TX, featuring a new design, technology and perks designed to engage employees returning from working at home.
As the company determined it would adopt a hybrid working model, JCPenney saw a need to have a central headquarters to facilitate employee collaboration and meet the needs of a diverse workforce. So it decided to return to the CALWest campus it once called home, and a newly renovated, state-of-the-art space will facilitate the change to the hybrid model, a company spokesperson said. More than 2,000 associates will return to the 320,000 square foot CALWest campus as part of the initiative.
JCPenney stated it wants to enhance the associate experience and remain a visible leader in the local business community while supporting and accommodating various personal and professional staffer needs. The new office is an open working environment, designed to encourage collaboration and connection to the JCPenney brand. Modern design and new technology will help support what the company describes as a seamless hybrid workforce. CALWest offers best-in-class amenities for employees, including two pickleball courts, an arcade, state-of-the-art fitness centers and a golf simulator, according to JCPenney.
“JCPenney is proud of our history in Texas and our connection to the Campus at Legacy West,” said Marc Rosen, chief executive officer of JCPenney. “As the company enters a new era, it’s exciting to be returning to the same space as our original home office. We’re thrilled to continue our legacy here with a refreshed space that allows our associates and teams to feel empowered by offering updated workspaces that cultivate a culture of collaboration, while also giving associates control and flexibility in the way they work. Our reopened office space will also give us opportunities to connect with our community, associates, business and nonprofit partners.
