JCPenney today announced the launch of a new loyalty program that allows consumer to sign up for free and offers a chance to meet National Basketball Association legend Shaquille O’Neal.
The JCPenney Rewards and Credit Program is free and offers a simpler, more compelling experience with the potential to deliver half a billion dollars back into the pockets of America’s diverse working families, the company stated.
Last year, JCPenney announced a $1 billion reinvestment plan to improve customer experience and operational efficiencies. With more than 20 million Rewards Members who consistently shop at the company’s stores an average of five times per year, JCPenney wants to ensure all customers feel rewarded through its ongoing commitment to making every dollar and every trip count. As such, the new rewards program will double the rate at which members earn points.
JCPenney detailed multiple enhancements to its Rewards and Credit Program including:
- The free-to-join program guarantees $20 in CashPass Rewards, allows rewards to be stacked on top of other coupons and can be used on any purchase.
- Customers who join JCPenney’s Rewards program will earn at least one CashPass point per $1 spent and receive a $10 CashPass Reward when they hit $200.
- The program now offers members incentives including a $10 CashPass Reward just for joining and another $10 CashPass Reward on their birthday.
- Holders of the company’s namesake credit cards get the program’s Best Price Guarantee and also earn CashPass Rewards 50% faster than ever before when using a JCPenney credit card for purchases.
- Cardholders earn 1.5 CashPass points per $1 spent, receive a $10 CashPass Reward when they spend $133 and enjoy an extra 35% off their first purchase with their JCPenney Credit Card.
JCPenney is also offering opportunities to unlock additional savings and earn greater rewards, including the chance to meet pro basketball hall of famer and JCPenney brand ambassador Shaquille O’Neal. In the spirit of reliving the singular time O’Neal, known as Shaq, made a three-point shot during his NBA career, JCPenney will conduct the More, More, More Event on May 4. That day, anyone who comes to a JCPenney location between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. local time and who is a member or signs up for the rewards program can take Shaq’s challenge to score a three-point basket into a shopping cart with the prize for making the shot a mystery coupon worth at least $10 and up to $100 off while supplies last. JCPenney is inviting rewards members to video their three-point shot and share it on social media using #JCPRewards for the chance to meet Shaq in person.
“We want every trip to JCPenney to be worth it,” said Katie Mullen, chief customer officer, JCPenney. “We want it to be easier to take advantage of our rewards, easier to reach rewards milestones and to make it a sure thing that every member sees rewards each year. Enhancing our rewards program is an important piece of how we bring value to our customers, but not the only piece. We’re already known for offering the widest range of accessible fashion across beauty, home, apparel, fine jewelry, salon and more, and we want to continue to earn the loyalty of America’s diverse working families.”
