JCPenney noted that she joins the company in a full-time consulting capacity at a pivotal time as it continues to strategically reinvest in its growth, advancing and introducing initiatives such as the JCPenney Beauty launch, extended merchandise and product collaborations, store refreshes and digital shopping upgrades. Thalberg’s past experiences include acting as Lowe’s executive vice president, chief brand and marketing officer and Taco Bell global brand officer.
In addition, JCPenney added Khristene Son (pictured right) to its executive team as senior vice president, trend, brand and design, with responsibilities across product categories, according to another company social media post. In her new role, she will work closely with merchandising and sourcing teams to support JCPenney brands. Son has almost 25 years of experience helping brands innovate and develop creative solutions to drive transformation, JCPenney stated. Her previous roles include vice president of design, apparel and accessories at UGG, senior vice president of content and storytelling for Charlotte Russe, vice president of design for Justice and senior vice president of design for Old Navy.
