As the holidays get closer, JCPenney is looking to hire 21,000 workers and getting set to drive some excitement with Black Friday deals, flexible and convenient omnichannel shopping experiences, and stylish gifts, the company announced.
This year, JCPenney has set a We Got Your Holiday theme over its year-end promotions, which feature affordable décor, gifting solutions and free family entertainment among other seasonal enticements.
From November 1, JCPenney is helping customers get ahead of their shopping with early access to thousands of Black Friday deals for one day only online. The company’s full Black Friday ad will launch online the same day and remain available all month long to help consumers plan their approach for shopping’s biggest month of the year. Select Black Friday deals will release online and in-store each week in November. JCPenney also will offer extended store hours through the holidays.
To ring in the season, performer Melissa Villaseñor will return as shopper Penny James with special singing guests, The Shopettes in Black Friday ads that feature a jingle consumers will remember, the company asserted. JCPenney will kick off its main holiday festivities with the JCP Live Holiday Spectacular on December 1. The Facebook Live event will be hosted by the Backstreet Boys and feature the world premiere of the music video of their new song Christmas In New York from their first-ever holiday album, A Very Backstreet Christmas. Fans can purchase the new album online at jcpenney.com plus get holiday questions answered, receive exclusive offers and giveaways, and support a charity partner.
JCPenney is spotlighting real, diverse American families in this year’s holiday advertising, the company pointed out. The Sharpe Family Singers, Jenny Martinez and family, the Wilson family, the Littlefield-DeLeva family, the Pocta family and the French Family Band share how they will approach the holidays. Also, shoppers can follow the #JCPFam Holiday Helpers for inspiration all season, including advice covering common gifting and hosting questions, gift card giveaways and tutorials, JCPenney indicated.
The company plans to hire 21,000 seasonal staffers to assist customers and support operations during the holiday season through a national hiring event through Saturday, October 15. All hourly employees will receive additional premium pay during peak holiday weekends and Black Friday.
