Posted In: Retail Articles

JCPenney is aligning promotions to support parents shopping for their kids through the summer.

Although they aren’t strictly back-to-school events, the promotions all include elements that provide bargains for those who are shopping for the return to elementary school, high school and college. The promotional efforts begins with Black Friday in July, from July 15 through 21, when all shoppers have access to thousands of affordable items including via JCPenney’s Semi-Annual Home Sale, which starts July 15 and continues through August 1, the company noted. More deals launch August 1 and continue through 4 as part of a Mystery Sale that offers up to 50% off designated items. Next come doorbusters during a Super Saturday event, August 9 through 11. The company will offer values on back-to-school favorites during Power Penney Days August 22 through 25, as well, following on daily deals during the Semi-Annual Beauty Event from August 1 through 18.

JCPenney Rewards members will get to shop an all-new Members-Only Savings Season event happening July 11 through August 29 when they can get a free back-to-school photo from JCPenney Portraits by Lifetouch.

JCPenney maintained it would offer more than 7,000 items under $20 and 2,500 items under $10 for the entire family during the savings initiatives, as well as more than 4,000 back-to-school items for kids priced under $20. It also is providing $12 haircuts for kids under 12 or $12 off any styling service over $30 for kindergarteners through 12th graders through September 21.

The company will give teachers an extra 35% off prices starting July 22. Teachers can verify their vocation on jcp.com to receive a special code for use in store or online.

JCPenney locations in participating states will take part in tax-free holiday initiatives, the company pointed out. JCPenney shoppers can purchase back-to-school items including clothing, shoes, backpacks, lunchboxes and small electronics priced under $100 without paying sales tax.

Michelle Wlazlo, JCPenney chief merchandising and supply chain officer, said, “Whether it’s making sure your kids have what they need for the classroom or dorm room, or refreshing your own wardrobe and home, these items can add up quickly. With JCPenney Rewards, families have an opportunity to get more, earn more and save more in 2024. No matter what they’re shopping for, we want customers to find value across the store with great pricing and rewards, including offers like complimentary portraits, new collections and weekly discounts.”
