JCPenney Builds Online Support for its B2B Business

Posted In: Retail Articles

JCPenney is stepping further into the business-to-business realm with the launch of a tool that expands its support for businesses and nonprofits looking to purchase quality, durable products at bulk-order prices.

A unique company website, jcpenneyb2b.com, provides current and potential bulk-order customers exclusive access to JCPenney’s catalog of products across several divisions, including fome, footwear, apparel for men and women and school uniforms.

JCPenney plans to launch additional capabilities in the second quarter specifically to support online voucher purchasing programs. Since the 1980s, JCPenney has supported voucher purchasing programs in stores only for their agency partners that serve those in need. By expanding the retailers’ program online, JCPenney will be able to offer this access to every nonprofit and agency nationwide regardless of where they or their clients may live, the retailer reported.

The B2B website responds to an emerging trend in which businesses use retailers to fulfill their product needs for daily operations with bulk product support, JCPenney pointed out.

Once they complete a registration process, businesses, nonprofits and government agencies can browse the JCPenney online B2B catalog. Through jcpenneyb2b.com, bulk customers can work directly with a company staffer to find products that match their unique needs, Bulk customers get access to JCPenney’s catalog of private labels, including St. John’s Bay, Liz Claiborne, Worthington, Stafford and Cooks by JCPenney, along with a list of national brands the retailer carries. Business and nonprofit customers can place orders of any quantity and customize their color and size selections.

“Customers are our top priority at JCPenney, and we aim to create purchasing opportunities that meet their needs,” said Wendy Santana, JCPenney vice president of business development. “Our business customers are no exception, and this new tool helps create an opportunity for us to be more accessible and efficient in our delivery of bulk order purchases. JCPenney has a long legacy of serving as a great partner in our communities, and we are excited to continue building on that distinction as we grow our number of bulk order customers.”

In the third quarter ended November 2, 2024, JCPenney sales slipped to $1.41 billion from $1.53 billion as net revenue decreased from $1.5 billion from $1.6 billion in the year-prior period. Net loss was $17 million versus $30 million in the year-earlier quarter, according to JCPenney Intermediate Holdings.
