Instacart has announced an update on its subscription service previously called Instacart Express and given the new name Instacart+.
On average in 2021, the company indicated, Instacart subscribers spent almost two times more each month compared to non-subscribing customers. Instacart has a core grocery offering but also includes household needs, pet care, electronics and housewares in its extended assortment, with actual product range available depending on the retailer shopped through the service.
Instacart+ benefits, the company noted, include:
- Family Accounts. A new way to share the benefits of Instacart+ with another person for free, including, for example, two young professional roommates or a multi-generational family living together under one roof.
- Family Carts. Households can collaborate in the order-building process and shop together, each adding their own items to a shared cart.
- Exclusive benefits for Chase cardmembers. In expanding on an existing partnership, Chase cardmembers become eligible to unlock free Instacart+ memberships, with Sapphire Reserve cardmembers receiving one year free, Sapphire Preferred cardmembers six months free and Freedom and Slate cardmembers three months free.
Instacart+ subscribers also receive perks such as special offers from Chase and Delta, Instacart stated.
“With today’s launch, we’re making Instacart+ the most cost-effective way for families to buy groceries and essentials with Instacart, delivered in as fast as 30 minutes,” said Daniel Danker, head of product at Instacart, in announcing the rollout of the updated subscription service. “In addition to free delivery on orders over $35, credit back on Pickup and reduced service fees, subscribers can now share Instacart+ with another person for free, and shop together to make ordering truly effortless.”
