As it celebrated the one-year anniversary of its San Francisco city store, Ikea announced it will open a Plan and Order Point location in Colma, CA this fall.
Colma Plan and Order Point becomes the second Ikea operation in the San Francisco metro area.
The Plan and Order Point is part of Ikea’s strategy to make the brand more accessible, convenient and affordable, the company stated. It will offer personalized interior design planning and a pick-up point, providing customers with convenient shopping closer to home.
In the city of San Francisco itself, Ikea maintained its 52,000-square-foot, three-level San Francisco store (pictured above) has seen a steady increase in visitors since it opened in August 2023 at the Meeting Place development, owned by Ingka Centres, another division of Ikea parent Ingka Group. Ikea San Francisco has increased its range of stocked products from 2,000 at opening to nearly 4,000 in meeting the diverse needs of San Franciscans, the company noted.
The San Francisco operation got a further boost with the opening of the Saluhall at the Meeting Place, during April 2024. Ingka Centres developed the food hall to be a crossroads of culinary experiences and community events downtown San Francisco. Saluhall is Ingka’s first such food hall in the United States. Ingka Centres acquired what is now Meeting Place, located at 945 Market Street, San Francisco, in September 2020
