TJX’s HomeSense and Kirkland’s Home topped their retail segments in the 2024 Newsweek America’s Best Retailers study of 7,000 consumers across the United States.
Retailers receiving the highest scores in each category made the America’s Best Retailers 2024 list. In conducting the study, Newsweek asked survey respondents how likely they were to recommend a favored retailer and to provide some thoughts on an outlet’s prices, selection and atmosphere. The survey also factored in responses to questions about customer service and accessibility.
In the Home Goods & Decor category, Kirkland’s, Crate & Barrel and Home Goods were the top three retailers, followed by World Market and At Home. In the discount home goods segment, Newsweek cited HomeSense, Five Below and Bargain Hunt.
Costco came in first in the Superstores and Warehouse Club Stores category, followed by Sam’s Club, Target, BJ’s and Meijer. In the Home Improvement Stores category, the top three were Tractor Supply Co., Menards, and Lowe’s Cos., with The Home Depot and Ace Hardware following. Nebraska Furniture Mart was at the top of the furniture category, with American Furniture Warehouse and La-Z-Boy rounding out the top three and Ikea and American Freight up next. In Arts & Crafts, Jerry’s Artarama led with Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann right behind, then Michaels and Artist & Craftsman Supply.
Among supermarkets, Great Wall led with Wegmans, Publix, The Fresh Market, Sprouts, Natural Grocers, Whole Foods, Seafood City, Albertsons and Kroger filling out the category. First among discount supermarkets listed was Trader Joes, with second going to WinCo Foods and third place going to Aldi.
