Dollar Tree Removes Interim Tag from CEO Creedon

Posted In: Retail Articles

Dollar Tree’s Michael Creedon is moving into the new year without the interim tag on his new CEO role.

Creedon (pictured above) joined Dollar Tree in 2022 as COO, and he has taken on increasing responsibility at the company during the past two years, the company noted. He was appointed interim CEO in November. He succeeds as CEO Rick Dreiling, who the company said is leaving due to health issues. Creedon has responsibility for the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar retail banners. He takes the reins as Dollar Tree conducts a strategic review of its Family Dollar operation.

Prior to joining Dollar Tree, Creedon spent almost a decade at Advance Auto Parts, for which he held multiple leadership positions, most recently as president of its U.S. stores.

“Following a search, we are unanimous as a board in our belief that Mike (Creedon) is the right leader for Dollar Tree,” said Edward Kelly, III, Dollar Tree’s board chairman. “His deep understanding of the business, coupled with his strategic vision and collaborative leadership, has earned the trust and respect of the entire organization. We have full confidence in Mike’s ability to guide the enterprise to growth and success.”
