Dollar General has launched a company-wide hiring blitz that will continue through July as it continues store and distribution network expansion.
Dollar General pointed out that 75% of store leadership roles are based on internal promotion. Part-time sales associates can step up to lead sales associate positions generally within six months, and to assistant store managers within 18 months of hire. The company expanded to 18,356 stores in 47 states by the end of April 29, the end of its first quarter. Dollar General opened 239 new stores in the first quarter, remodeled 532 stores, and relocated 32 stores, it reported.
DG Fleet drivers earn a mileage-based pay, unload pay and annual bonus opportunities and drivers can bring one vaccinated dog or cat of eligible breeds as a ‘co-pilot’ on the road, the company stated.
“At Dollar General, we celebrate drive and reward initiative, providing several paths to grow your education and career with the company,” said Kathy Reardon, Dollar General’s executive vp and chief people officer, in announcing the hiring event. “As a mature retailer in growth mode, including our continued expansion of our newest store concept, Popshelf, and our recently announced expansion into Mexico, we look forward to sharing with interested applicants details about the opportunities at DG and how they can join a team whose collective mission is serving others.”
