The Coresight Research Holiday Wrap Up noted store traffic during the holiday season was often up at major retail chains and shopping centers with deals driving most purchase decisions.
Big-ticket items gained, including furniture and appliances, according to Coresight.
Coresight reported a third of consumers spent more in the holiday season, in line with expectations; 30% spent less, just a bit below expectations. The proportion spending the same, at 30% was about four points lower than the expectation
A little more than half of shoppers purchased on Amazon, with Walmart a few points behind, followed more distantly by Target, trailing by about 22 points. The rest of the top 10 consisted of Dollar Tree/Family Dollar, TJX, Costco, Dollar General, Kohl’s, Temu and eBay.
Two in 10 holiday shoppers purchased home goods. Apparel and related products, including footwear and accessories, topped toys/games and holiday decorations in the top three product categories shopped.
