In a look forward, CB2 released its 2023 Next in Design Report to provide insight into the cultural and design inspirations that will influence interiors across the United States.
The annual report, now in its third year, delivers interior design ideas to consumers for the year ahead, CB2 stated.
In surveying interior designers from its Trade Program, CB2 discovered four areas of focus that will set the design tone in the coming year, the company noted. A sensuous take on wellness, a stylish approach to comfort and thoughtful entertaining are considerations the retailer expects to shape homes in the coming year.
So, according to CB2 designers, the year ahead will bring:
- Art of Entertaining. Consumers are leveling up their gatherings and taking a more discerning approach to the overall experience, with tablescapes carefully considered.
- Refined Comforts. Beautiful objects combine with the feel of plush velvet, in one example, to establish spaces that feel put-together and luxurious at the same time.
- New Voices. An expanding high design perspective looks beyond European and American aesthetics to take inspiration from Africa, South America and other international art, architecture and design techniques.
- Cautious Hedonism. Wellness in the pursuit of pleasure expressed in pattern and texture.
“In 2023 we’re embracing expression and exploration,” said Ryan Turf, president of CB2, in introducing the report. “It’s about design choices and quality materials that reflect customers’ individual needs and values. It’s about the story our homes tell, inviting new and distinct voices to the conversation and not being afraid to indulge and show that off a little.
