Big Lots Introduces Affiliate Marketing Program That Rewards Content Creators

Posted In: Retail Articles

In a new marketing turn, Big Lots is launching an affiliate program designed to build on its organic and grassroots popularity with social bargain-savvy creators and publishers, the company announced.

The program offers influential content partners the opportunity to be among the first to share limited-time closeout opportunities, extreme bargains and promotions with their communities, Big Lots stated, then earn a commission on referral sales to its website. Big Lots developed the affiliate program working with impact.com, a partnership management platform. Big Lots noted that its affiliate program builds on the successes of the company’s fast-growing social media influencer and ambassador program, which has attracted creators who have generated hundreds of new image and video assets and tens of millions of impressions. The content the influencers posted has driven higher site conversion rates and boosted email clickthroughs; the company added and generated a better return on ad spend compared to brand-generated content alone.

Big Lots designed the program to reiterate its position as a value retailer delivering bargains on everything for the home, including furniture, décor and pantry items, not to mention products such as kitchen appliances and household storage items.

“Big Lots has built a dedicated and influential following of shoppers who crave the excitement of discovering excellent deals and sharing them with others,” said Bruce Thorn, Big Lots president and CEO, in announcing the program. “Introducing this new affiliate program is a natural progression for us in expanding our connections with bargain-savvy creators and publishers, as well as their online communities. By collaborating with our chosen affiliate partners and impact.com, we aim to engage with more consumers more frequently and authentically within their preferred online communities.”
