Bed Bath & Beyond is continuing to bolster what the company calls its “omni-always” strategy by extending curbside pickup services beyond store hours and striking a deal with once direct-to-consumer mattress supplier Casper.
Both Bed Bath & Beyond and buybuyBABY customers will have access to curbside pick up of purchases made online as early as 8 a.m., one hour ahead of typical store opening hours. The retailer noted that it now will provide buy online, pickup in store and all other curbside orders one hour from the time the order was placed, down from two hours.
As it detailed the extension of pickup hours, Bed Bath & Beyond also announced that it has almost doubled the number of zip codes in the United States eligible for same-day delivery thanks to a new strategic partnership with crowdsourced delivery platform, Roadie. With more than 200,000 verified drivers nationwide, Radie will help Bed Bath & Beyond bring the total zip codes eligible for its same-day delivery services to about 16,000.
“We are excited to further reinvent digital services like same-day delivery and buy online pick up curbside or in-store to get orders in the hands of our customers even sooner,” said Bed Bath & Beyond evp and chief digital officer Rafeh Masood. “The country is getting ‘back to normal,’ and we want to give consumers expanded flexibility on how to get online orders, within hours. Whether that means placing a last-minute same-day delivery order to better entertain this summer or picking up an online order on the way to work, we are finding new innovative ways to meet the evolving needs of today’s digital customers.”
In a move to build its sleep products business, Bed Bath & Beyond will offer Casper products via its website and mobile app and in select Bed Bath & Beyond stores. Casper products including mattresses and accessories already are available on bedbathandbeyond.com.
As part of the initial rollout, Bed Bath & Beyond will launch a first-of-its-kind branded shop-in-shop at its newly developed flagship store in New York City. The flagship is a renovated location set to reopen on July 22 with a modernized customer shopping experience, the retailer noted.
As part of the partnership with Bed Bath & Beyond, Casper has developed what the retailer characterizes as an immersive in-store shopping experience of its sleep products assortment, including the Casper Cooling Collection, a new product line developed with the brand’s most technologically advanced solutions to minimize nighttime overheating.
The new Bed Bath & Beyond flagship at 620 Sixth Avenue in Manhattan will give shoppers a chance to check out Casper in person, as will locations in the borough’s Tribeca neighborhood and Bridgewater, NJ. Casper products will roll out to additional Bed Bath & Beyond locations across the U.S. in the coming months, the retail indicated.
“We are pleased to strengthen our authority in the sleep category by forging this strategic partnership with Casper to make its exceptional and innovative suite of sleep solutions available to our customers,” said Joe Hartsig, Bed Bath & Beyond evp and chief merchandising officer, and president of Harmon Stores. “Casper is an ideal complement to our bedding collection, which now features high-quality and affordable items from our Nestwell, Wild Sage and Simply Essential line of owned brands. We’re proud that Casper’s first shop-in-shop will be inside our flagship store, and look forward to together serving New Yorkers and all omnichannel customers.”
