Amazon is planning a fall Prime Day event in October 2023, as announced by Doug Herrington CEO, Worldwide Amazon Stores.
Beyond the month and the countries, Amazon did not reveal the date or length of the event.
In October 2022, Amazon held its Prime Early Access sale on the 11th and 12th of the month, and the company asserted that Prime members around the world purchased toys, home merchandise, beauty and personal care, apparel and electronics enthusiastically, with Shark hair dryers, vacuum, and air purifiers in the best seller ranks. Market research firm Numerator tracked the Prime Early Access event and reported that results from the first 30 hours had consumers especially focused on affordable gifts, but presents weren’t their only preference. Of Prime Early Access shoppers, only 31% reported purchasing gifts, which suggests consumers capitalized on the sale to satisfy a wide range of priorities. Numerator stated that the average order size during the event tallied $44.68, down from $60.29 during summer’s Prime Day 2022. Among households shopping the Prime Early Access event, 56% placed two or more separate orders, bringing the average household spend to roughly $110.45.
In Amazon’s just past Prime Day, Numerator noted that the average order size was $58.41, 73% of households placed two or more orders and the spend per household was $180.82.
In the 2022 October Prime Early Access initiative, Household Essentials were the top-selling product category, purchased by 29% of shoppers. Home & Garden came in sixth among categories as defined by Numerator, with 18% of purchasing.
