Consumers purchased a record number of products on Amazon over “Turkey 5,” the period from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, the company maintained.
Best-selling items on Amazon were Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick and Apple AirPods, the company indicated, as well as Hasbro Gaming CONNECT 4, Burt’s Bees Christmas Gifts, apparel from Champion, apparel and shoes from New Balance, the Amazon smart plug, Echo Show and Nintendo Switch.
For consumers who plan to continue shopping, Amazon has assembled gift guides that include home and personal care products such as the Keurig K-mini Coffee Maker, Ember Mug, iRobot Mop, Jonathan Adler Coasters and the Drybar Blow Dryer Brush.
Customers supported small businesses on the Amazon platform this season as well, the company noted, generating sales of more than $1 billion in the United States. Top-selling products from small businesses included games such as What Do You Meme? Family Edition, Taco vs Burrito – The Strategic Family Friendly Card Game, and Kids Against Maturity: Card Game for Kids and Families.
“This was a record-breaking holiday shopping weekend for Amazon. Customers shopped millions of deals this weekend, and we have many more amazing deals to come,” said Doug Herrington, CEO, Worldwide Amazon Stores, in outlining the results.
Even as it discussed its holiday highlights, Amazon made introductions in its business operations. Amazon Web Services now will offer an application dubbed AWS Supply Chain. The app was designed to help businesses increase supply chain visibility and, so, allow them to make faster, more informed decisions that mitigate risks, lower costs and improve customer experiences, according to the company. Amazon also launched AWS Clean Rooms, a new analytics service developed to help companies across industries easily and securely analyze and collaborate on their combined datasets without sharing or revealing underlying data. With AWS Clean Rooms, Amazon stated, customers can create a secure data clean room in minutes and collaborate with other companies in the AWS Cloud to generate insights on advertising campaigns, investment decisions, clinical research and other functions.
