Pinterest has released its annual trend report, “Pinterest Predicts,” to give consumers and advertisers a first look at trends they can expect to see in 2025 in home décor, fashion, beauty, food/beverage and travel.
More than a half a billion people come to Pinterest each month to search and shop, which the company says gives them unique insight into what is soon-to-be-trending. By analyzing year-over-year growth in search terms, Pinterest identifies fast-rising patterns and curates them into the Pinterest Predicts report. While 65% of the 2025 trends are driven by Gen Z, the trends span generations.
According to Pinterest, the trends show that more people are leaning toward bold forms of expression and maximalism, where individuals will look for a way to stand out and engage all of their senses through their style choices.
Some of the Pinterest Predicts Trends include:
- Cherry Coded: Gen Z and Millennials will infuse cherries into their makeup, menus and mood boards this year.
- Rococo Revival: Weddings, parties and aesthetics will draw inspiration from the Rococo era — a late Baroque period that was opulent and ultra-feminine. Gen Z and Boomers are driving this trend toward class corset gowns, luxe accessories and ornate tablescapes.
- Surreal Soirees: Curvy candlesticks, fantastical flowers and gravity-defying centerpieces define this trend, which will infuse tablescapes and décor with modern surrealism. Gen X and Boomers are driving this party trend.
- Castlecore: Gen Z and Millennials will take medieval home décor inspiration from ancient castles.
- Dolled Up: Pinterest users will go in on babydoll makeup, cute room ideas and necklace charms in whimsical colors.
- Rebel Floats: In 2025, Gen Z and Millennials will give soda an updated makeover with searches like “homemade soda,” “fruit soda” and “soda drink recipes.”
- Terra Futura: Boomers and Gen X will revolutionize sustainable living with recyclable fashion, self-sufficient gardens and community spaces.
- Primary Play: In 2025, there is a focus on letting the inner child shine. Gen Z and Gen X will hand paint funky murals onto furniture, jazz up trim and make spaces more playful.
- Pickle Fix: From sweet treats to tangy cocktails, Gen X and Millennials will go all in on pickles, including pickle cakes, pickle de gallo, pickle fries and pickle margaritas.
- Chaos Cakes: In 2025, Boomers and Gen X will turn to silly cakes, funny cakes and rat cakes – the wackier, the better.
- Mix & Maximalist: In the upcoming year, more is more. Gen X and Boomers will mix and match bold patterns, eclectic prints and textures in all colors of the rainbow. There will also be lots of layering.
- Nesting Parties: Gen Z and Millennials are driving this supportive parenting trend, which is about helping parents prep for the postpartum period and set up their homes for the arrival of a baby. It’s not about the gifts, although those are welcome.
