Sustainable living isn’t just a buzz phrase these days, as many consumers are looking for ways to leave a smaller footprint on the planet. And, it seems, composting has been a way to do this.
With options for both small-space composting as well as the traditional method for larger areas, it is a trend that has continued to grow. Now, Pela is bringing home an additional solution for garbage— turning it back into fertilizer.
Pela has introduced the Lomi Smart Waste Appliance, which is designed to turn food waste into nutrients for green spaces, like lawns and plants. Just scrape plates directly into Lomi, instead of the standard garbage pail. From there, it neutralizes odor and can turn waste into nutrient-rich dirt in as little as four hours. The company notes that fruits, vegetables, bread, grain, animal products, yard waste and Lomi-approved packaging can all be composted. According to the company, using Lomi can help reduce garbage waste by more than 80%. It has a suggested retail price of $499.
